This workshop illustrates to teachers the possibilities, limits and implications of international comparative school studies. Using PISA and the OECD as examples, it will be shown how the OECD has become an important actor in the definition and measurement of educational performance. Afterwards, the participants will work in groups to determine which goals, measures and instruments are important in setting educational policy impulses. Finally, a discussion panel will discuss the problems of school comparisons, how they are received in Bremen and how useful German federalism in education is in view of a globalised (educational) world.
